FAQs

Sugar Beach is located in the Val des Pitons valley, La Baie de Silence, just outside Soufrière on the southwestern coast of Saint Lucia. The resort sits between Petit and Gros Pitons — a UNESCO World Heritage Site — with a private white-sand beach in front and over 100 acres of rainforest behind.

Sugar Beach is not all-inclusive by default, but the Viceroy Unlimited Luxury Experience package includes daily breakfast, lunch, and dinner at any resort restaurant, plus house beverages and minibar items. InterStays can help match you to the right meal plan or package for your trip.

There are six accommodation tiers: Luxury Guestrooms (entry tier), Luxury Villas (including Luxury Cottages and Grand Luxury Villas), Luxury Beachfront Bungalows, multi-bedroom Residences, the Four-Bedroom Beachfront Collection, and the 9-bedroom Spice of Life private estate. Every category includes 24-hour butler service.

Most accommodations have a private plunge pool or pool. Luxury Guestrooms come with a plunge pool, terrace, or walled garden depending on the room. Villas, Bungalows, Residences, and the Spice of Life estate all include private pools.

Yes. Sugar Beach is one of the most family-friendly luxury resorts on the southwestern coast of Saint Lucia. The V Team Kids Club runs Sugar Club for ages 4–11 and Spice Club for tweens and teens. Yes — well-behaved pets are welcome in select guestrooms and in most public areas of the resort, excluding bars, restaurants, the poolside, and the spa. Please notify the resort in advance. Service animals are welcome with documentation, and the fee is waived.

There are nine on-property venues: Saltwood (signature fine dining), Bonté (beachfront Caribbean), Jalousie Grill (beachside Argentinian-grill), The Cane Bar (Southeast Asian small plates), The Terrace (breakfast), Boopa’s (grab-and-go bakery and café), Jetty Burgers (casual burgers at South Pier), Cocoa Mill (chocolate boutique), and Saltwood Bar (lounge bar).

Saltwood Restaurant requires resort chic — no torn jeans, flip-flops, swimwear, or athletic wear. Bonté is casual by day and resort chic in the evenings. Beachside venues like Jalousie Grill, Jetty Burgers, and Boopa’s are casual.

The Rainforest Spa is the resort’s signature wellness facility. Treatment rooms are built as treehouses on stilts at the base of Petit Piton, connected by elevated wooden walkways through the jungle canopy. There are nine treatment rooms (including couples’ treehouse suites and rooms with private outdoor pools), a Temazcal volcanic-spring steam room, and natural relaxation areas. The spa was named Saint Lucia’s Best Resort Spa at the World Spa Awards 2022.

Children under 13 are not permitted in the spa or to receive treatments. Teenagers between 13 and 17 may receive treatments with a parent-signed health questionnaire.

Most international travelers fly into Hewanorra International Airport (UVF), about 18 miles / 28.9 km away — roughly a 35–45 minute drive. UVF is the preferred and recommended airport. George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) is the alternative, about 31 miles away and around 1 hour 20 minutes by road.

Standard private land transfers can be arranged through InterStays or the resort concierge. Helicopter transfers can also be arranged for guests who prefer to skip the drive.

A deposit of the first 3 nights’ room rate plus tax and service is taken at booking. The remaining balance is charged 21 days prior to arrival. Between January 3 and December 21, cancellations made 21 days or more before arrival are penalty-free. Cancellations within 21 days of arrival forfeit the entire stay. Holiday-season cancellation terms may differ.

The dry season (December through April) generally offers the most reliable weather and the clearest Pitons views. Shoulder months (May, June, November) often offer the best value and lighter crowds while keeping conditions favorable. The hurricane season runs roughly June through November — InterStays can advise on timing.
