Jade Mountain Resort, Saint Lucia — Sanctuaries with Front-Row Pitons Views
Perched above Anse Chastanet’s 600-acre beachfront estate on Saint Lucia’s southwestern coast, Jade Mountain is one of the Caribbean’s most architecturally distinctive luxury resorts. Twenty-nine sanctuaries — most with their own private infinity pool — open onto uninterrupted views of the twin Pitons and the Caribbean Sea, with no televisions, no telephones, and a personal butler on call around the clock.
Jade Mountain is the architectural vision of Nick Troubetzkoy, the resort’s owner. The design language draws from organic architecture: stone-faced columns rooted into the hillside, individual sky bridges leading to each suite, and a deliberate decision to remove the fourth wall so the landscape becomes part of the room.
The interior finishes lean heavily on natural, locally and regionally sourced materials. Walls are coated in coral plaster quarried in Barbados. Floors and trims are crafted from more than 20 species of sustainably harvested tropical hardwood — including Purpleheart, Greenheart, Locust, Snakewood, Bloodwood, Mora, and Cabbage Wood — sourced from the Guyana rainforest. Window openings are framed with wide tropical wood beams and fitted with movable jalousie louvers, giving guests control over breeze and privacy.
Every sanctuary is intentionally individual. Each one is treated as its own architectural piece, with a distinct pool tile palette, hardwood mix, and furniture selection — so no two stays at Jade Mountain look or feel exactly alike.
Jade Mountain is the work of architect-owner Nick Troubetzkoy, who designed the resort to blend into the Caribbean landscape rather than impose on it. Stone-faced columns rise out of the hillside, and individual sky bridges lead to each suite — called a sanctuary — where the bedroom, living area, and (in 24 of the 29 suites) a private infinity pool flow into a single open-air platform aimed straight at the Pitons UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The resort is intentionally adults-oriented and unplugged. There are no televisions, radios, or telephones in the sanctuaries. Instead, guests are paired with a personal butler — known here as a Major Domo — who is on call 24 hours a day via a discreet in-room communication device.
As a Jade Mountain guest, you also have full access to the amenities of the adjoining Anse Chastanet Resort: two soft-sand Caribbean beaches, multiple beachside and hillside restaurants (including a vegan option), a PADI 5-Star scuba diving operation, an art gallery, boutiques, and more than 12 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails through the historic Anse Mamin plantation.

Galaxy Sanctuary
Approximate size: ~2,000 sq ft
Private infinity pool: ~900 sq ft (largest at the resort)
View: Commanding 270-degree southwest panorama of the Pitons, Caribbean Sea, and sunset
Best for: Top-tier celebrations, milestone honeymoons, guests who want the most dramatic vantage point on property
There are only three Galaxy sanctuaries — JC1, JD1, and JE1 — all positioned on the southwest corner of Jade Mountain. They offer the largest footprint, the largest private pool, and the most expansive panoramic views of any category at the resort. If you want the postcard, this is where you stay.
Sun Pool Sanctuary
Approximate size: 1,800 – 2,000 sq ft
Private infinity pool: ~900 sq ft
View: 270-degree panoramic from corner positions on the northeast and southwest
Best for: Guests who want Galaxy-level scale and pool size at a slightly lower tier
Sun sanctuaries occupy elevated corner positions and share many of the same dimensions as the Galaxy category, including the generous 900 sq ft pool. The panoramic 270-degree orientation makes them a strong choice for travelers prioritizing both pool size and view spread.
Moon Pool Sanctuary
Approximate size: 1,600 – 1,950 sq ft
Private infinity pool: ~650 sq ft
View: Pitons and Caribbean Sea, from various levels of the resort
Best for: Couples seeking a substantial private pool and generous suite space at a mid-tier price point
Moon sanctuaries deliver the full Jade Mountain signature experience — open fourth wall, sizeable private infinity pool, and uninterrupted views — across multiple levels of the property.
Star Pool Sanctuary
Approximate size: 1,400 – 1,800 sq ft
Private infinity pool: ~450 sq ft
View: Pitons and Caribbean Sea, from various levels
Best for: First-time visitors who want the private infinity pool experience at the most accessible entry point
Star is the entry-level pool sanctuary. It’s still a fully realized open-air suite with a private infinity pool — just on a slightly smaller footprint than Moon, Sun, and Galaxy.
Sky Whirlpool Suite
Approximate size: ~1,650 sq ft
In-suite water feature: Large couples chromatherapy whirlpool tub for two (no private pool)
Layout: Two-level design with raised tub elevated above the living space, all open to the views
Location: Lower hillside level of Jade Mountain
Best for: Travelers who love the open-wall design and Pitons view but don’t need a private pool
There are five Sky Whirlpool Suites in total. They retain the signature open fourth wall and the 15-foot ceilings, but trade the private infinity pool for a dramatic raised whirlpool tub for two. One Sky suite on the northeast corner has windows and air conditioning and can be requested at booking — useful for guests sensitive to humidity or insects.
In-suite infinity pools — design notes
The infinity pools are not afterthoughts; they’re a core architectural feature. Pool sizes range from roughly 400 to 900 square feet and increase as you move up the room categories. Each pool is finished in custom glass tiles with a textured iridescent surface, and every sanctuary has its own unique tile color palette that carries through into the bathroom — meaning no two suites look alike.
Jade Mountain Club
The Jade Mountain Club is the resort’s signature restaurant, reserved exclusively for in-house guests. It wraps around a brilliantly colored infinity pool and serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The menu, developed by James Beard Award-winning consulting chef Allen Susser, is described as ‘Jade Cuisine’ — a modern fusion approach that pulls from Caribbean and global tropical traditions and shifts seasonally based on what’s coming in from local growers and the resort’s own farm. Live entertainment, including jazz and acoustic guitar, runs on selected evenings.
Celestial Terrace
Suspended just above the Jade Mountain Club, the Celestial Terrace is an open-air rooftop space designed for sunset cocktails, stargazing, and private dining. Many guests book a private dinner here — it’s widely considered one of the most dramatic sunset perches on the island.
Anse Chastanet restaurants & bars (included access)
As a Jade Mountain guest, you have full access to the dining outlets at the sister Anse Chastanet Resort. These include several beachside and hillside restaurants and bars, with menus that range from Caribbean and tropical world cuisine to a dedicated vegan option — adding meaningful variety to longer stays.
Emerald Estate Farm
Since 2007, the resort has operated its own organic farm at Emerald Estate, supplying the kitchens with fruits, vegetables, microgreens, herbs, spices, and nuts grown on the property. Guests can tour the farm, join farm-to-fork experiences, and see exactly where ingredients on their plate originated.
Chocolate Lab
The estate is home to over 1,000 cocoa trees, and the resort runs its own bean-to-bar chocolate program. Tree-to-bar tours, sensory tastings, and chocolate-themed treatments round out the experience for chocolate lovers.
Culinary events & festivals
Throughout the year, Chef Allen Susser and the culinary team host themed culinary events. These include Cooking in Paradise classes, the Mango Madness Festival (with the famous ’25# Mango Mojitos’ and a ‘Night of 1000 Mangos’ dinner), Caribbean Rum Week tastings, Discover Chocolate sessions, and Valentine’s beach dinners under the stars. Worth checking the events calendar before booking dates.
In-suite & private dining
Private dinners can be arranged in your sanctuary, on the Celestial Terrace, or on a secluded section of the beach — useful for proposals, anniversaries, and special occasions.
Kai en Ciel Spa
Kai en Ciel is Jade Mountain’s boutique spa and fitness studio. The treatment menu spans classic body and beauty therapies, holistic and Ayurvedic services, facials, and signature massages. Sister-resort spa locations — Kai Belté on Anse Chastanet beach and the Kai Mer spa cottage — are also available to Jade Mountain guests.
In-sanctuary treatments
Most spa treatments can be delivered directly in the privacy of your sanctuary, including couples massages set against your private pool and the open Pitons view.
Yoga & fitness
Complimentary group yoga is offered daily at sunrise and sunset. Private one-on-one yoga sessions can be arranged through the concierge, and the resort has a fitness studio plus tennis courts.
Although Jade Mountain itself is designed for stillness, guests have full run of the 600-acre Anse Chastanet estate. Most activities are coordinated through the adventure desk at Scuba St. Lucia, located at the south end of Anse Chastanet beach.
Beaches
The estate includes two natural soft-sand beaches with pristine coral reefs just offshore. Anse Chastanet beach is the main beach — full service, beach huts, towel and minted-spray service, and easy access to snorkeling and water sports. Anse Mamin, the second beach, sits to the north and is reached by a complimentary resort shuttle boat or a roughly 10-minute walk.
Scuba diving with Scuba St. Lucia
Scuba St. Lucia is a PADI 5-Star operation and one of the longest-established dive centers in the region. The Anse Chastanet house reef is rare among Caribbean dive sites — the reef begins about 15 yards off the beach and drops from 20 to 140 feet, with more than 150 fish species recorded. Guests can shore-dive, boat-dive, take their open-water certification, or join Discover Scuba sessions for first-timers.
Snorkeling
The Anse Chastanet reef is also one of the most accessible snorkeling sites on the island. Escorted boat snorkel trips to other locations are available.
Watersports
Complimentary non-motorized watersports include kayaking, paddleboarding, mini-sailing, windsurfing, and snorkeling gear. Sunset kayak tours and birdwatching kayak combos can be booked through the adventure desk.
Hiking & mountain biking
Over 12 miles of private hiking and mountain biking trails wind through the Anse Mamin plantation — an 18th-century former sugarcane and cocoa estate with ruins still on the property. Cannondale mountain bikes are available, and the resort runs guided walks daily on a complimentary basis.
Off-property excursions
The concierge can arrange a guided hike up Gros Piton (a Saint Lucia bucket-list climb), ATV tours through the Choiseul countryside, visits to Diamond Falls, the drive-in Sulphur Springs volcano, the Tet Paul Nature Trail, fishing-village beach picnics, and bean-to-bar cacao tours at Emerald Estate.
Birdwatching
The Anse Mamin plantation is a recognized birdwatching site. Tours are designed for both beginners and seasoned birders, and include context on the plantation’s history and flora.
Jade Mountain is consistently ranked among the most romantic resorts in the Caribbean — a function of the open-air sanctuaries, private infinity pools, attentive but discreet butler service, and the front-row Pitons view. The resort has dedicated programming for honeymoons, anniversaries, vow renewals, and weddings.
Weddings
On-property wedding venues range from beachfront ceremonies on Anse Chastanet to clifftop ceremonies on the Celestial Terrace. The resort offers structured wedding packages and can accommodate intimate elopements as well as larger group weddings.
Honeymoons & anniversaries
Honeymoon and anniversary stays can include private dinners on the Celestial Terrace, in-sanctuary couples spa treatments, sunset sails, and curated culinary experiences. Returning-guest recognition is part of the program.

Mobility note: The resort is built into a hillside with stairs and bridges between sanctuaries. Guests with mobility needs should contact the resort or InterStays before booking to confirm suitability.
Mosquitoes / open-air: Because the fourth wall is open, you’ll feel the breeze and hear the night. This is part of the design — but worth knowing if you’re sensitive to insects or noise.
Tip: Plan for a minimum of three to four nights to settle into the rhythm of the property — between sanctuary time, the spa, beach, and excursions, anything less can feel rushed.
